Since Rick is up to his eyeballs checking and rechecking everything for the midnight launch for the 2014 Reunion registration, I think I will steal a bit of Rick's thunder and announce the Top Gun Co-Commissioners for 2014. Before I announce the co-commissioners, first let me welcome all of you to this year's reunion in Las Vegas. In an effort to expand the activities at this years reunion, we are having our inaugural Top Gun Competition. We are planning to have competition with both rifle and pistol. So if you haven't done any shooting since your days in the Navy, you have about seven months to go to your local gun range and practice. You will have your choice to compete with either rifle or pistol or both. At this point we are trying to finalize the location for the inaugural competition. As we all know the more folks that participate the lower we can get the cost. Your wives or significant others will also be able to participate in the competition. Rick has indicated that there will be a place on the registration form to indicate if you want to join the fun. Its not about winning, but the comradeship and enjoying the time in a different venue than the hotel/casino. The current plan is to compete with weapons similar to what you used in the service. As we get closer to the reunion, we will announce the weapons and the competition format. We are planning on the winners to get a chance to shoot some exotic weapons like an UZI, AK47, or M249 SAW.

So to the announcement. This year's Top Guns Co-Commissioners are David McNair and Keith Brownmiller. David as we all know is a fixture at all reunions. He was found last reunion excelling on the dance floor. Some have said that he will be giving lessons. But truth be told, David is a home on his little piece of heaven in Three Rivers, California with his wife, "the Marine", his dogs and his guns. David said as long as he takes one of his toys out daily, there is no bad day. Keith, a relative newcomer, can be found helping on the forum as one of the moderators. Keith comes to the Tarawa, not as part of the crew but as one of the first Marines deployed aboard the Tarawa into West Pac. Many have heard of Twentynine Palms, only in the news, but Keith considers himself a desert rat, living in the middle of the Mojave Desert. His piece of heaven, includes his wife, son and daughter-in-law and his grandson, Kale. But what would a Marine be without a weapon or two or three or... We are looking to having a great time, so win, lose or draw, come join us.

I cannot think of two better Top Gun Co-Commissioners then Keith and David. It will be a lot of fun watching everyone shoot. I will certainly add a lot of pictures and videos to this thread when we get back from the reunion. Keep in mind, both Keith and David will be shooting in Top Gun, too!

I have not shot a rife or pistol since boot camp, but I will be going to my local gun store and gun range in 2014 for lessons and a lot of practice. I don't expect to win, but I am going to give it my best shot! As Keith mentioned above, it's not so much about winning, but it's about comradeship, TARAWA comradeship. But it would be really COOL if I won. I could brag about it for the next two years.

I hope you will sign-up with me for the Top Gun Competition.

This is truth! Ya all have a great evening be safe , have fun and appreciate what you have.
