It is almost impossible to carry in California. But I wish I could.  Nevada, now that is another story.   Coming soon.....

Have my Ariz non-resident CCW valid in the states I spend most time in except California. Will be starting the California CCW via San Bernardino County. Will tell you how it goes.

Hey Keith,

Yes. As long as i qualify every 12 months and carry the ID card HR 218 allows it regardless of the state law. Still can't carry on airplane, fed buildings and that stuff or on private property where their rule prohibit it.

so i guess, the question should be,  do you always carry when you are able....    is it now part of your wardrobe, or do you pick and chose the days or events .....    As i have mentioned i have , nevada utah and oregon, and i would say 60 percent of the time i do not carry although i can......

I am guilty of not carrying. I did the other day. I need to do it everyday. I was just thinking today about how a semi-automatic could jam or misfire vs. the revolver that is almost 100% free of misfires. I would like to carry my small Ruger LCP, but today when I was shooting it, it jammed on me several times. I think I need to carry my Ruger LCR (revolver).

Danny, I'm jealous!

Hey Danny, does HR-218 apply to retired correction officers as in state and federal prisons?

UVA, I do not carry as often as I should, but I think about it just about every time I leave the house. Shits gettin too scary out there! When I do it's usually my S&W 442 rather than my model 30, I carry that one too from time to time. I like 11 rounds rather than 5 though, so it's more a matter of what fits in my pocket rather than on my belt.

Keith, it does apply to active and retired corrections.

Rick, just a suggestion... A lot of times auto's jam because the grip gets too "loosey goosey" that might not by the issue but it might be a good place to start. You need a strong grip (not necessarily how you always need with a revolver) yo make it work right.

Thanks for the suggestion Danny. I'm also going to get a Dremel and polish the feeding ramp. The rounds could be getting hung up on the machine marks on the feeding ramp and the carbon left behind. I'm a gun neophyte, so I'm just guessing after reading on the Internet about jamming problems.

You will not only ACE the test, but you will probably become an assistant teacher half ways during the course!

Sort of a strange deal here in Ct. You get issued a carry permit, bu they ask that you carry concealed as to not get people upset. Fine by me either way. I carry every time I leave the house unless I am going somewhere specifically a no-gun area like Hospital, Fed building and so on. As for carry, most times I carry a G23 in .40 on my hip. I do change up though depending on what I am wearing. At times I go with SOB other, a small gun I go with a pocket holster.

I carry every time I leave my home.  I am a current LEO so that is part of it but I would and will carry come the day I decide to retire as a LEO.  I carry my weapon, a minimum 1 extra mag, flashlight, knife, handcuff every time.

LEO - law enforcement officer. Surprised that you didn't learn that in your CCW class.

Retire from law enforcement, David, and you can carry in all 50 states under federal law. Where are you living/working, David.

Yep, I remember now from my CCW class. The instructors were retired police officers, NSA agent (or something like that), and a medical doctor.

I'm a Leo, and a Scorpio and I need to get my CCW.  I'm kind of waiting for the daughter to move home next June, she's a teacher and wants to get her CCW.  Classes are better when you know someone in them.

I agree. I did not know anyone in my CCW class.
