While serving in the military, did anyone run into a celebrity? Was it a good or bad run in? This happened in San Diego. I remember driving my car on the highway and noticed Dick Van Dyke was driving his car in the other lane. I continue to parallel his car and stare at him. He increased his speed, I increased my speed. After one or two minutes, he floored his Cadillac and sped off in the distance. No, I was not stalking him. I just wanted to see him. I'm sure he was thinking, who is this nut?

No, I never ran into one, BUT.........I looked into the mirror at one every morning. [rofl]

I would have to say that was a good run in as well.

I was at UCLA when they were honoring the Marx Brothers at their local movie theater. During one of the movies, I decided to get something to eat. I walked out to the concession stand and saw this tall, beautiful woman walking towards me. I noticed she was with a really short guy. I thought to myself, why is she with this little guy. I then looked closer at the guy and realized he was Mickey Rooney! He stared at me for five seconds, and I stared at him for five seconds. After they walked by me, I got some popcorn and continued watching A Day at the Races and A Night at the Opera.

This was well after my Navy time.

The wife and I were in Vegas for our anniversary and staying at the Golden Nugget, downtown on the strip. It was in December during the PRCA rodeo.

We were walking from the restaurant in back towards the casino when we walked by this guy who looked familiar. It was Willie Nelson.

The sad part was that he seemed to be trolling for fans, but no one was reacting to him, they were all just walking past him.

When I was flying to Mississippi for A school, my plane stopped 6 times between Dallas and Meridian, MS. At one of those stops, these two guys got on and all hell broke loose. They were twins and used to be on the tv show Hee Haw. Everyone wanted their autographs. When we got to Meridian, MS, I was grabbing my duffel bag, when one of them came up and.... Pushed me out of the way so he could grab his bag. What an ass. No excuse me, kiss my ass, nothing. Never watched another episode of Hee Haw.

Does this count... Years ago, when I first started my teaching career, I had dinner with two old teachers who lived by an old Annie Oakley in Greenville, Ohio when they were young girls. They told me she would sit on her front porch, chew tobacco, and yell at the kids when they got on her front yard! They said she really loved her dog.

When Tarawa was in dry docks in Long Beach during 1978/79, I would drive to the Tonight Show starring Johnny Carson in beautiful downtown Burbanks. I remember leaving the parking place at the NBC studios and waiting at the traffic light. Suddenly, a beautiful Rolls Royce pulls up besides me. Don Rickles dressed as CPO Sharkey was driving. He just left the NBC studios where he was filming his TV show CPO Sharkey. He was still in his Navy uniform. He was going over his lines in the car in character, ha. That was something to see. He never looked at me.
