A message from Sumter County Sheriff Bill Farmer on golf cart safety.

Believe it or not, people die in golf cart accidents. We are going to have our golf cart dealership install retractable seat belts on our golf cart.

My wife has given me permission to deck out our golf cart with USS Tarawa LHA-1, ha. The color is battleship gray! REALLY! I wonder if I will do it? I wonder how many Tarawa shipmates will stop me as I drive by them?

I just called service and scheduled a maintenance for my golf cart, including adding retractable seat belts. Safety is paramount. On the day of your service, you leave your golf cart outside in your driveway with the keys in it. They will drive your cart on a big golf cart van, take it in for service, bring it back to your driveway, and leave it. It is very convenient!

Need a updated picture of your cart , with the Tarawa License Plate. Do you have a giant 1 painted on as well?

I have not been to Florida for a while. However, I will be doing this.

I'll add the Eagle of the Sea sticker on the other side. If you have not gotten your free Eagle of the Sea sticker from me, get it today. I have 500 of them. See the Rewards Forum for more information.

I will add to the bottom front window...

Eagle of the Sea

It will be interesting to see how many Tarawa shipmates will see it in The Villages!

The Villages had a Tarawa ball cap on display a couple of years ago during July 4th.

The Villages has the largest Veteran groups and organizations in the entire world!

The closest way to describe The Villages is, it is Walt Disney World on steroids for adults.

This is an Army buddy and me in my golf cart driving to Arnold Palmer Country Club in The Villages. He is driving, and I am filming. He was an Army drill instructor.

I got my Tarawa Eagle of the Sea sticker ready to go to Florida. I believe I will be going down for a few day in June. I hope that is enough time for the designer to detail my golf cart! I will call a week before heading down and try to set up an appointment. I also have my Tarawa license plate for the back, too. Maybe I should glue a big helicopter on the roof with a spinning blade, hummmmmm?

How about a baby's mobile glued to the top of the roof with helicopters on the end of the strings?

After this phase is completed, I would like to get a ships horn to replace the basic golf cart horn.

John, I certainly will update this thread with pictures or video of the golf cart going 360° around it when completed. I am quite sure there are many Tarawa shipmates in The Villages. I may place an ad in the Daily Sun searching for Tarawa shipmates and also contact the largest American Legion in the world, which is in The Villages.
