I didn't serve aboard the Tarawa but I did serve aboard the USS Belleau Wood LHA-3 from 92-93. Which included home port switch from San Diego to Sasebo Japan. Also was part of closeing of Subic Bay in Nov of 92.

The closing of Subic, bay got to me, i was the Crash Captain there from 1982 to 85, in fact I was the last military standing before they turned it all over to civilians, I hung around till I trained the new Fire Chiefs coming in, points of contacts I briefed them on , and locations of all fire panels , then I finished out my last 4 months at the OMD, transit line as a section leader, ah the days great duty and people
