When we were in Long Beach, I would walk through Officers Country by their chow hall and pick up the movie of the night that would be sitting by the chow hall door. I would take it to the War Room, and a group of Operations Department guys would watch it. Only the OSs had the keys to the War Room, so it was a pretty safe place to hide. We finally got caught by our Senior Chief who noticed most of the guys were never at work in CIC for three hours every day. He walked in while we were watching a movie. He sat there for several minutes then said calmly, "Don't ever do this again," and walked out! He was a pretty good guy not taking it to the next level, SCOS Cross.

Wow..........I'm telling you, There is so much we never did on the ship compared to all these stories I hear of. A TV/VCR in the engine room..............? Damn, we were lucky to have a radio in the shipfitter shop. Well the lucky ones were those who enjoyed HT2 Lawrence's genre of music, that is.

Yep, Chief Cross could have gotten a lot of us in trouble. I'm guessing he did something stupid like this when he was just starting his career, too.
