Rick,

I want to say thank you for taking Ken's things. To have them just discarded would have been so wrong. He was very proud of his Navy Time as you all should be.

I decided to forgo the military marker for his grave and designed on myself that I thought more fitting.

His nephew, Mike Jeno, also served on the Tarawa in her last years.

Ken would have really enjoyed the reunions in Vegas. We went several times over the years. That and taking cruises, of course, they have casinos on board. But the water time was important to him.

Thank you again.

Lil Jeno

Rest in Peace, Chief. To keep the Tarawa in the family is cool.

As it has come to my attention that we have lost another beloved brother, plankowner CPO Kenneth Edward Jeno USN (Ret), I would like to take a moment to honor his memory and his service.  The value of his dedication in service to our country during his 20 year enlistment cannot be quantified.  Our nation will forever be grateful for his sacrifice in defending our freedom and the American way of life.

While we prepare to celebrate the precious birth of our Lord Jesus, please keep Kenneth's family in your hearts and prayers.  That they will find strength in God thru our Christ in their time of loss.  As Believers we can only imagine what it will be like for us to be with our Lord on Christmas Day.

Kenneth's obituary and current picture can be seen on this link:

I passed him in the ship many times. I remember him on Quarter Deck watch, too.
