I will be shooting my M1 in the next match in Nov at MCAGCC.  My M1 has a Harris bipod with a Redfield Revenge scope.  I will be competing at 600 and 1000 yard lines. Click image for larger version - Name: IMG_20130829_092843.jpg, Views: 76, Size: 69.79 KB

Is that your M1 you were assigned when you were in the Marines? If so, were you allowed to take it with you when you retired? If not, how did you get it?

When I joined the Corps we were using the M14.  Later in my career we changed over to the M16.  We nevet got to keep or purchase any of the weapons we were issued.  I got my M1 from an organization called CMP (civilian marksmanship program).  It operates under a federal charter.

They are an outstanding organization.  The M1 was the service rifle for WWII and Korea.

Is it hard to get ammo for it?

At least right now, online purchases are keeping able to get more than a single box here and there. If anyone out there is having trouble finding ammo either email or PM me.

The M1 is truly one of the most outstanding weapons ever made. It is capable of reaching out over a 1000 yards and make you feel warm and oozy. Love my M1.
