My local sheriff said in the newspaper he would like everyone to carry a concealed weapon. He certainly is a believer in the second amendment.

Good for your Sheriff.  Ours is an idiot and hides behind popular voices.

Considering recent events, and if there is an escalation of bad events in the local area, I've decided I will start carrying. I'm in the process of selecting a weapon now.

I'm thinking along the lines of a Kimber Carry.

Leo, I've been thinking a lot about that one.  I have the Custom Target II along with the .22 Custom Target II conversion kit.  I'm preferring Kimber, so the UCII would be one of the weapons of choice.  Thanks for confirming it.

Kimber makes some nice 380s, but not legal in California.  I can't wait to retire and get the heck out of this state.

When I was growing up, my dad (ex-navy WWII) didn't want to go to California. He had been there during the war. But, we had family there, his in San Bernideno, moms in Sacramento. So after many years of badgering, he gave in and we got to see San Francisco, Disney Land and the beach. Once I graduated high school, he never went back again.

When I joined the Navy, my first assignment was at NAS Miramar and my last was the Tarawa. I started and stopped my Naval career in San Diego.

I spent several weeks in Califorina over the years for work. I'd like to visit once more to take my wife aboard the Midway, so she can see what it was like, and cross my fingers, to take her aboard the Tarawa.

Other than that, I have no real need to go ther again.

Well, if you decide to take a cheap Southwest Airlines flight into San Diego, let everyone know and maybe we can do a get together for us folks living in California.  I used to be a volunteer on the MIDWAY.

Yup.  29 is about 2.5 hours drive from San Diego, so getting up early and hitting the road gives us quite a few hours for a group therapy session.  And even more hours the next day!!
