5 dollars for a cap, that's a bit too much I feel, I know there quality, but I buy alot of caps and 32 dollars is the most I ever paid for one

Lmao, David! 5 dollars? I think you may have forgot something [rofl]

Like always, I have my own opinions.

Plank owners are special people. They were selected to be he first crew of a ship. Plank owner hats should be for plank owners.

If I get to your award level for a plank owner hat, keep it. I don't deserve it.

I'll buy a gold cap instead.

It's a recreation plank owners cap given to you by a plank owner, there's a difference. Plus Rick put a lot of time & money into it. I would be very thankful and honored if I were to receive a generous gift as such.

I just looked at the tracking of the hats. They are 15 miles away from my home! However, I think UPS will not deliver them today, Saturday. I'm pretty sure, UPS will wait for Monday. I am taking my mother gambling at the casino today. I could hit the jackpot by finding the hats on my front porch when I get back. However, with such a large order, I'm positive someone would have to sign for them. They would not leave them sitting on a porch!

While John is slacking on the 600th post for the Anniversary of the Battle of Tarawa, I am just charging ahead as that is how we whooped the Japanese in 76 hours vice 100 years. All I know is that I passed the 1,000 post mark sometime ago as I'm trying to catch Rick's 2,000+.

Maybe UPS/FedEx are, as it takes them days to go 15 miles. What say you about that, Rick.

The 100 hats arrived at 2:53 PM. I now I have to count them and examine each one. I wish I had the eyes of a quality control John Green right about now! I will give you an update of how many hats are in the box. It should be 100, but it could be 99 or 101. I will then do a 1080p HD on boxing.

What I mean about the eyes of a quality control John Green is, he won an iron-on Plank Owners' patch (Eagle of the Sea) hat from me. It was crooked by two or three mm. I did not notice it. So I exchanged it for one that is perfectly perpendicular to the bottom. He's the guy in your neighborhood who always has a manicured lawn and a freshly washed car sitting in the driveway, hee hee. But then again, you want those guys living next to you. It makes your house all that much better.

Maybe you should have had scheduled John to visit today, so as you counted 1 2 3, John could examine them up close and personal. However, when it started to turn cold there a couple of weeks ago, he headed to Florida. So with the white stuff there, I don't know.

right now the only way to get a hat, is to keep posting , keep in mind these must be posts of more than one or two words,  rick has offered them as a reward on the forum for members who post 599+ posts and reach "tarawa " status.

there are also a few other rewards along the way..

i believe e-2 status is a nice looking tarawa decal,  and e-5  is a free tarawa  email address.....

My old cap has seen better days, how would I go about buying a replacement cap.I'd gladly pay for the cap and whatever shipping costs incurred.
Here's what my old one looks like.....

All 127 hats are free. If you make two or three Tarawa and other posts a day while watching TV or listening to the radio, you will have your new hat this summer. We have a lot of different topics to join. I hope to see you and your wife at the next reunion, and I hope you travel to the island of Tarawa with Tarawa Marines and Sailors one day.
