Does this count as one, I work, go to school ,don't own a gun yet . I check the forum and reunion sites frequently but 399, no points for reunion attendance teach?

You are 14 posts ahead of 350 members I deleted for having no posts.

Can I buy one? Or donate towards the Reunion fund in exchange? Looks sharp. I'd like to have one and I'm not that chatty.

Cannot buy one. You can only earn one. When you get it, don't wear it. Put it in your trophy case. It will last you your entire life.

Great move, Rick. I was hoping you would make this happen. Besides surgery tomorrow, and getting the 2015 Tarawa On-line Competition to see if Steve will keep the target on his back.

No lurking, and I will delete all accounts not posting. Everyone will need to reach a total of at least twenty (20) posts by June 26, 2015.

Yes, Thanks for bringing the Forum back.  I do a lot of lurking - after sitting in front of 2 computer monitors all day long, I'm pretty much brain-dead when I get home and look around different websites to help me relax and get my mind off work.  Hopefully before I have another heart attack!

Looking forward to shooting against you Gunny.  You better practice [smile]  I don't mind losing the Top Gun, but I'd prefer to lose by 1 or 2 points between all shooters [smile]

Yall just full of hot air. I really wanted on of those caps. Lost mine and several more items in a house fire several years ago.

Ray, anyone on the forum can earn the Plank Owners' ball cap. Just let me know when you get 600 posts. I have them here ready to go. Don't forget the Tarawa Eagle of the Sea sticker, too. Check the rewards forum. You may already have earned it. I don't remember how many posts are needed. Just let me know.

If I don't give away ~120 Tarawa hats to forum members before going to the assisted living retirement home, you get all the hats and all the other Tarawa stuff I have simply because you are the youngest here. I'll pay ten years ahead for the forum and give you the keys, ha. You get it all! (I will not sell them. That's too easy. They have to be earned.) I may just get a U-Haul and get all the stuff to you that way.

Ok, so when are you going?  And which one?

I haven't decided if I want to be at the same one or accross the country.

Either in Ohio or Florida. I don't have to decide for awhile.

Ohio or Florida.  Hmmm. Not a big fan of either.  I was thinking Tahiti or St. Kitts...  [smile]

That's a great idea, I vote for the last winner to run it!  He/she who wins, runs the next one!

Come on guys, double-up on your posts and get another Eagle of the Sea original plank owners' hat. I have four big boxes of them in my basement, plus another box of them with minor flaws. The minor flaws would be great to wear outside while working. The others are for your trophy rooms. They can only be gotten on our forum. Doing the math, each one of you should get 15 hats each.

AZ1 Leo Shults, AIMD 1983
LOL! 15 hats each!  WOW!  That's only 9,000 posts!

I'm at 300, so I'll earn my 15th hat some time around, 2050...

Rick, if we do a shooting contest every other month, you could give the winner one of the "GOOD" hats and the runner up one of the "WORK" hats...

That will get rid of them in only 3 to 5 years...

Great suggestion, BUT I will only give the hats away on the forum for making posts. I won't sell them or offer them for contests. Just for anyone who wants to talk TARAWA.

would love another hat  , but at my current post rate it will be years... i do love talking tarawa..    im guessing her status has not changed.....  had a buddy at ford island a few weeks ago and asked him for pics, but he never got over to see it....

This is a horrible thought, maybe we should have a calendar date contest to see who is the closest to guessing the sinking, scrapping, or recommissioning of Tarawa? A guess would be the month and year, for example, May 2017.

well rick,  its been on my mind.  the longer she sits the harder it will be to drag her out of moth balls.. im not sure  what they r doing to preserve her.   would need to go to dry dock for sure to clean the underside, intakes,  rudders.  recon the flight deck etc etc....    im guessing fuel tanks are empty , need to re pack the valves .. the list goes on on and on...  plus you would know better than all of us, how old are the electronics? thats a major upgrade...

ive always wondered how big of a mess would be brewing before they called the t back into action....

does the navy have a minimum requirment for available ships in inventory...   if so are they waiting for a new lha-r to be afloat before they pull the plug....??

my guess, june 2020   we will have some sort of an answer...

Actually the LHA-R became LHA 6 USS AMERICA with LHA 7 USS TRIPOLI under construction. And then you have the LHDs that are in the fleet now.
