How many of you over the years have lost/never had a USS Tarawa Watch Cap(hat)? If it were possible to have them either at the reunion for sale or so that you would have it when you arrived in Vegas, what would be your choice.

Hey Rick,

How about we follow this to make sure that those that want a hat can get it here within the forum.

That sounds good to me, we would have to come up with a cut off date for them. Also, if 50 or more people order one, that would be a large suitcase to carry on the airplane. I would have to ship them to Las Vegas by the United States Postal Service.

If you want a watch cap, sign up here, and we will make a decision on what we are going to do later. It just depends on the response from the Sailors and Marines attending the Tarawa Reunion in fabulous Las Vegas, Nevada in August 2014 at Sam's Town Hotel and Gambling Hall.

My Mom has the original patch off of an unused ball cap I sent her back in '86. For some reason I guess she didn't want the hat and removed the patch. I'm going to ask her to bring it when she comes to visit me from Florida. I also ordered a red (Flying Squad) ball cap patch from ebay a month ago. I'm going to find new ball caps and have a seamstress sew them on. Hopefully this will work.

. I have two very first Tarawa ball caps with the silver eagle, the Gold Eagle came later not sure what year, I wish we could get the Silver eagle made up so we could have a choice and to show what time period we served on Tarawa, I like the yellow eagle and have 10 of these patches but am partial to my silver patch, I thought of getting a lot of yellow ones and having them sewn on caps and of course bringing them to reunion to give away or raffle

As I think back, I am not sure that I remember the silver eagle. But then, my memory isn't what it used to be. Would be great to see pictures of the silver one.

Yep, the first ones were silver. I always thought the red ones were for the Marines? It's the same color red the Marines have, I THINK?

I would like to have an original silver cap, but I don't think they are being made. I guess you could get it made as a custom purchase.

I noticed a couple things on the apparel page this morning that I wanted changed before releasing it to everyone. Once the corrections are made on their end, I will certainly release it. It's my OCD wanting things crisp, clean, and sharp!

Keith, we are waiting for the graphic arts department to take pictures of the other colored polo shirts. Then we will place the pictures on our REUNION and FORUM page for everyone. I am so excited we are getting quality polos from this company.

Also, I AM going to get a Navy watch cap, too. You will like the Marine watch cap!

I think some get a watch cap and ball cap mixed up, a watch cap was worn when it was cold and a ball cap was when we played ball, my watch cap didnt have a watch in it but it still was warm on pier watches ha ha, I am wound up tonight wish you all a great safe weekend

Don't worry. The watch caps are caps to be worn during winter. It is not a ball cap.
