"It is therefore recommended ... to set apart Thursday the eighteenth day of December next, for solemn thanksgiving and praise, that with one heart and one voice the good people may express the grateful feelings of their hearts and consecrate themselves to the service of their divine benefactor ..."

-- Samuel Adams, father of the American Revolution on November 1, 1777 (adopted by the 13 states as the first official Thanksgiving Proclamation)

Hello Shipmates,

Thanksgiving 2014 is upon us!

As Americans it's a time to get together with family and loved ones to share our gratefulness, share our happiness and share our memories of loved ones who have passed.

And as Veterans we are especially mindful of our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who are on duty throughout the world to preserve and protect our freedom.  Please keep them and their families in your prayers during this upcoming holiday season and beyond.

Bonnie and I want to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving.  Please consider making a place available at your holiday table for neighbors and friends who may not have family nearby to share in a meal and good will.

We always give our Lord and God our thanks for his many blessings!

Warm wishes,
Larry Osborn

It has long been a holiday ritual that we take a full holiday meal sans alcohol to our troops serving as sentries at the one or more of the gates at the Marine Base here in Twentynine Palms. We believe they should be remembered as they can't leave their post for a home-cooked meal.

Jo and I echo the prayers of Bonnie and Larry that we remember our troops far from home.
