Now you may have heard of Bettie Page.  She is probably one of the most beautiful pin-up models ever photographed.  Back in the 50s and 60s, she even did nudes and a little B&D, which at the time was pretty scandalous.  And she is one sexy gal.

Speaking of sexy gals, here is my "Bettie".  This is me shooting at metal targets 960 yards away, and ringing it with each shot.  This is a Ruger Precision Rifle Model 18008, chambered in 6.5MM Creedmoor.

That is a very cool picture! You should have tried out for a sniper. If you had to do it over, would you go to sniper school?

Absolutely.  I got the shooting bug when I was in Army ROTC in High School.  Shot well enough to be pulled onto the Rifle Team.  Shot consistently at all meets.  That was when I fell in love with the Remington 40XBs.
So yeah, I'd go Army or Marine Sniper if I got the chance.

If I had a range to shoot at which was more than 100 yrds (preferably out to 1000 yrds), I would buy a .338 lupua, preferably a Remington 700, and add an Accuracy International chassis.  Haven't decided on a scope yet...

Leo, the scope on this is a Burris XTR II 8-40X50mm "F" Class.  I'm going to go into NRA F Class shooting.  Expect to pay as much or more than the rifle for some good glass.  The RPR was 1500, the optics was 1000.

Well, you know the military, they over pay for everything, so probably 5 to 10k.

True.  Military does have specialized scopes, Infrared namely.  But there are IR versions of civilian scopes out there. The thing to look for if you want to do distance shooting, say 600+ yards, is the magnification power (the ?-??) and the objective lens size (??).  For instance, my scope is 8-40, which means it is 8 times the power of the normal eye and adjustable up to 40 times the power of a normal eye and 50 is 50MM objective lens size.  The larger the lens, the more light comes in, meaning you can see better you can see in low light situations.

For a AR15, a Red Dot Sight or stock iron sights are good for close quarters combat (think inside your house).  But if you want to do some distance, say up to 500 yards, then a 223 BDC (Bullet Drop Compensation) would be just dandy with a power of 1X4 or 3X9 with an objective lens of 40MM.
