When Tarawa first arrived in San Diego from Pascagoula, Mississippi, OS2 Hutchinson found a company in Chula Vista (I think.) that made really nice coffee mugs. He took our orders in OI Division and came back with some nice coffee mugs.

I've got one in the cupboard under a few other ships mugs! The Tarawa was my first ship, and the one I have the fondest memories of!!!

Yep, looked again last night, and found that I actually had 2. I too think there was a shop in Chula Vista that supplied ships cups. I'll look tonight, I know at least one of them had the shops name on it. The cup you and I have is different (a little smaller) than the 'standard' hand warming mug...LOL

Jorge, my question is not the mug which does standout, but all the Navy cammies I am used to seeing are blue. What is the difference in the ones you are wearing?

Keith:  These are the NWUs type III worn by Expeditionary Forces. I am attached to a Riverine Force Command.  The blue ones are type I (for shipboard and shore command use) and type II are the ones worn by Special Forces.

I just got this great stainless steel travel coffee mug. It looks great. It has the Eagle of the Sea shield on both sides.

Add a picture of one of your mugs to this thread. It will be fun seeing other shipmates doing that, too. Ha ha.
