This is going to be a fun contest! What would you do with a GIANT 20" TARAWA Eagle of the Sea Decal sticker? It is a 20" decal printed on 5 year durability vinyl that will not fade in the sun and can withstand extreme weather conditions such as 90 degree heat and freezing snow. The decal can be applied to any flat surface such as vehicle windows, windshields, bumpers, walls, finished wood and much more. The decal is adhesive backed and very simple to install - just peal and stick!

Step 1: Tell us what would you do with a GIANT 20" TARAWA Eagle of the Sea Decal Sticker below.

Step 2: I will make a voting poll to determine the winner.

Step 3: I will send the GIANT decal to the winner.

Step 4: The winner will have to take a picture of his winning decal idea and post it on this thread.

Good Luck!

That magnet idea is great. It would go on my front, living room window...in between my Grateful Dead and my Led Zeppelin stickers…

Assuming that the 20" Tarawa decal were a 1:10 ratio of the real one on the Tarawa, I try and build a 1:10 ratio model of the USS Tarawa and place the decal back where it belongs. Don't I wish there was a complete working model of the Tarawa replete with a working mess.

I would stick it on my front window of my house, under my porch , so the sun wouldn't beat down on it and fade, assuring it would last for a long time, if it was a patch it would go on the back of my Harley Jacket

What great Ideas you guys have.

I was just going to put it on one of the walls in my basement as soon as they ere done.  Maybe the front of the bar.  It would go well with the bar top which will have all of the coins and bills I brought back from my deployments.

I would post the USS Tarawa LHA-1 Eagle of the Sea magnet on the front of our business in Saginaw, Michigan "The Standing Wheelchair Company" Veteran owned and operated to display my pride and honor of my 4 years of service (working on the flight deck in V-1 Air Dept.) aboard that marvelous lady!

I would put it on the hood of my jeep. But our temp is usually in low 100, not sure how that would do.

Upon my EOAS I was fortunate enough to be presented a huge US flag that the Tarawa flew in the South China sea during my final WesPac in 1989. Even though that old gal is now 25 years old and a bit tattered I still unfold her on special holidays and proudly hang her from my barn to commemorate past and present servicemen and women. I think that this beautiful decal would look great hanging next to that flag to represent not only my 3 years spent on LHA1 but also the thousands of others who served on that great old gal.

Very cool. Keep it safe and secure as you have a treaure there. Something to consider. As you might be aware we are working diligently to get the USS Tarawa moved from war reserve to become the first Amphibious museum. This would be such a great addition to the museum.

If you haven't got your paracord bracelet and challenge coin chip, lets get them on order. Here is the link: http://www.lha1museum.org/TarawaLHA-1Museum.html

All -
I would be honored to share the flag with the LHA1 museum. As I stated in my original post, she's showing some wear but it's not from my displaying it. The tattering is from being used during deployment when she proudly hung from the mast throughout the western Pacific. I have kept the flag neatly folded and tucked away for all but a few days of the last 25 years.
Also, I have a few other artifacts that may be of interest as well.

It would be great if you attend the 2016 reunion in Las Vegas. I would have the staff at Sam's Town hang your flag at all of our activities! I have Tarawa's Number 1 flag. I had Sam's Town hang it at all of our activities.

Once again, here is the orginial plank owners' hat I NEVER placed on my head! It was carefully placed in a trunk and stayed there until a few months ago when my sister found it going through my parents' belongings. It has only been touched by FOUR people, the person on Tarawa who gave it to me, me, my father, then my sister. It has been touched a total of SEVEN times! (Yes, I have OCD, but I use it for good.) I don't let anyone touch it, including my wife. She understands.

I sent the GIANT sticker to Contestant 1, UVA7. Unfortunately, Contestant 11 decided it would be better if he did not take the GIANT sticker. Sadly, I agreed to his wishes. UVA7 will update us with a picture in the near future.

Some of the guys gave him a hard time about displaying the flag incorrectly. He was concerned they would continue if he made another post. He was the top vote getter in this contest.

So, as from time to time I don't keep my mouth shut, who are "some of the guys" and I'd have told them to kiss my ass!

Look around everyday and if you follow flag etiquette to the letter it's "displayed" (however you define display) incorrectly all the time.

I was ONE who mentioned something about it. I didn't give him a hard time, I just voiced concern considering we're talking about a Navy veteran. If it's not a big deal, why the hell is there a such thing called 'flag etiquette?' I have NO problem calling ANYONE out on flag etiquette, ESPECIALLY US veterans.

I have thick skin and if you (Danny White) were to tell me to kiss your ass I would just LMAO @ you.

I know what the hell I'm doing!

As do I.

My point was if someone felt they couldn't make another post because they at least perceived they had been given a hard time and may not participate in the Forum any longer, then that's a real shame!

I can guarantee I will not post much of anything anymore ( not that I did anyway) because someone might "police" my post.

Have a good one John

You need thicker skin Danny. I merely made a harmless & Non personal attack comment. It has NOTHING to do with policing. We're not in grade school anymore.

I know what you mean, ha. They are BIG. When I got them I thought the same thing. I found the largest diameter shipping tube I could find to keep it as flat as I could. I did the same thing of flipping them upside down and placing books on them.

I hope Contestant #9 decides to take a sticker. I would like to see it by his sign, The Standing Wheelchair Company. It is owned by a veteran, hurray.
