NAVDAMCONTRACEN 'A' School - Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

May 7, 1986 - September 3, 1986

I was in a bit longer than expected. I ended up in a Philly hospital then transferred to Base hospital before spending some time in the medical holding company for a while with a broken jaw. A buddy and I were jumped in the early morning of July 5, 1986 at the South Street Subway Station while heading back to the base after 4th of July fireworks. Other than that, I had a Great time at NAVDAMCONTRACEN - Philidelphia.

Good grief, John, JUMPED! I was never jumped, but the guy standing to my right was a mountain man and drank a lot. He wanted to fight me while at school. I said, okay, let's meet behind the barracks. I went out to meet him, but he changed his mind. That's the closest I came to being jumped.

I went to OS-A School in Great Lakes, IL. I graduated Oct 17, 1975 as an OSSN. I enjoyed myself and made many new friends at the barracks of guys going to other schools there. I had a two other roommates. I enjoyed talking with the other guys attending the many different schools. The main school there was for hospital corpsmen.

I don't have a picture of our graduating class. I wonder if they even had them. [confused]

AZ A school in Maridian, MS. Slept my way through school and graduated top of my class. They offered me E4 and choice of duty in exchange for a year extension.

So I jumped from E2 to E4 and spent 2 years with VC-7 at NAS Miramar sharing a hangar with Top Gun.
