When you buy a new gun, can you take it to the range to shoot, or should you take it home and clean it first?

It's a 50/50 thing.  I say yes, take it home and clean it.  Some manufacturers like to put a little heaver amount of grease/oil on the weapon to help protect it if it is sitting in storage at the warehouse or a gunshop.  Plus it will give the opportunity to take it apart and learn how to put it back together again so you won't have to figure that out at the range in the event of a malfunction.

Give it a good cleaning and lubing and then go make some noise!

That makes a lot of sense. I have always prescribed to commonsense. Thanks.

If it’s a Kimber the manufacturer says to put a couple hundred rounds before you clean it because it is so tight.
